CREED/SCOTT STAPP NEWS (from Creednet.com)
Creed Tour Dates and Cancellations *****Update on Scott Stapp's condition*****
Creed has postponed their June 13th concert at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Oregon until Tuesday, June 20th. This announcement comes one day after announcing the postponement of the Seattle, WA show until Wednesday, June 21st. All tickets for the previously scheduled dates will be honored for the new dates. Refunds will also be available at point of purchase.
Lead singer Scott Stapp was diagnosed yesterday with laryngitis and a bacterial infection. Early this morning, Stapp’s physician recommended postponing this evening’s show in Portland in effort to prevent Stapp’s illness from worsening. He is being treated with antibiotics and has been instructed to rest for the next 48 hours.
The postponement of this evening’s concert also comes as a preventative measure to help insure that Thursday’s concert in San Jose will go on as scheduled. All other upcoming shows will remain on schedule.
The band has expressed their disappointment, as they never like canceling or postponing their concerts. They deeply regret inconveniencing their fans but look forward to coming back to Portland and Seattle next week to make up the shows.

Frequently Asked Questions (from Creednet.com)
How did the band get its name? Bassist Brian Marshall came up with the name Creed.
How many albums does Creed have? Two. "Human Clay" was released on September 28, 1999. Their sophomore album debuted at #1 on the Billboard Album charts, and stayed at #1 for 2 weeks. It has now reached quadruple platinum status. Creed's debut album, "My Own Prison" was originally released independently on the band's own Blue Collar Records label (known as the "Blue Collar Release - only 6000 were printed). In April 1997 the songs were reissued by Wind-up Records in August 1997 with a different mix and slightly different artwork. It is has also been certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA.
Is Creed a Christian band? "Are we a Christian band? This is a question we are asked a lot because of some of the references made in the lyrics. No, we are not a Christian band. A Christian band has an agenda to lead others to believe in their specific religious beliefs. We have no agenda! Those references were made at a time in my life when I was questioning how I was raised, and searching for where I stood concerning those issues. This is not to say I have abandoned those beliefs, just searching for where they fit into my life." -- Scott Stapp
Are the members of Creed Christians? "This is a very personal question because the whole foundation of being a Christian is a personal relationship. I can say that all the members believe in God, but we each differ on our methods to reach Him. We are all still learning and growing, and God can only answer this question, because who are we to say that being a Christian is the only way to heaven. I know this might be hard to understand for all the Christians who follow the band--and trust me, I know where you are coming from--but let us continue to seek, and if that is the way, then we will find, if we continue to knock, the doors will be opened." -- Scott Stapp
If Creed is a Christian band, why does Scott say "God damn" in WTLF? (First of all, see question #1.) "Why do we use GD in WTLF? First of all let me say that there was never an intention of cursing God. It was strictly an emotional response to a tragic situation of losing two friends to suicide. I know some of you live by the words of never taking the Lord's name in vain, and I feel in my heart that there was never that intention. Some of you will never agree with my use of that word, and I respect your convictions. I guess this is between God and me, and my heart has no conviction for the use of this word because I feel God understood my situation. If some of you could look at the bigger picture in that song and not focus on the word, you would understand that it is a cry to the lost, put in a way that they could understand." -- Scott Stapp
If Creed is a Christian band, how come they're not on a Christian label? See question #1.
OK, so they're not Christian--are they religious? "Please do not limit this band to only dealing with spiritual issues. I wrote about spiritual issues on this record because that was what I was dealing with personally at the time I wrote the words for this record. I write about things that are very personal to me, and things that I see and feel from the world around me. All I can say is that writing for this band is not centrally focused around spiritual issues, so understand that not all of our songs in the future will deal with the same things MOP dealt with." -- Scott Stapp
What was the inspiration behind the song "My Own Prison"? "I wrote this song at a time in my life when I realized that I could not continue to blame others for why I was in the situations I had placed myself in. I was blaming my parents, God, and anyone I could find, when really the only blame rested with me. Hence the phrase, "I've created my own prison" Realizing this helped me move forward in my life and make better decisions, knowing that if I was going to get better, it was me and only me that could make a change." -- Scott Stapp
Which members write the songs? All of Creed's lyrics and music are written by Scott Stapp and Mark Tremonti.
Are there any Creed songs that aren't on My Own Prison or Human Clay? The Dead Man on Campus soundtrack spawned a track called "Bound & Tied," which has been performed live. There's an acoustic version of "My Own Prison" that has been performed for several radio stations and is available for free download on Creednet. Creed has also contributed a cover of Alice Cooper's "I'm Eighteen" to the soundtrack of The Faculty. A cover of "Riders On The Storm" by the Doors will appear on a Doors tribute album in 2000. "Young Grow Old" appears on the Human Clay European/Japan release and "To Whom it May Concern" is included on the "Higher" single (European release). An alternate version of "With Arms Wide Open" is soon to be released to radio.
What future releases are planned? Creed has several songs in the works for the next album, but no release date is set. Tentatively, the band is planning a home video release for December 2000.
Who is that on the front of the "My Own Prison" CD? "This is a friend of ours from college named Justin. Mark's brother Dan took this picture for a film class, and we liked it so much we decided to put it on the cover. We thought it captured the feel of the album." -- Scott Stapp
Does Creed have any videos? The band made a video for the track "My Own Prison", which can be seen on Creednet. They also made live videos for "Torn" and "What's This Life For" which are also available on the website. A video for "What's This Life For" was made in the summer of 1998. Two versions were produced: one that interspersed clips from the movie Halloween: H20 (as this song was used in the movie) and one that had vignettes for each band member in place of the movie footage. Both are available for viewing on Creednet.
From Human Clay, the band have made videos for "Higher, "What If"(for Scream3 the Movie), and "With Arms Wide Open."
Who do the band members like to listen to? "We listen to a variety of music. Led Zeppelin, Doors, Tool, Metallica, Slayer, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Eagles, Garth Brooks, Tea Party (recent band favorite -- check out their web site....GREAT BAND!) U2, Otis Redding (helps make sweet love..) Bad Company, Beatles etc.....I could go on forever..." -- Scott Stapp

Why was the record changed from the Blue Collar release to the Wind-up release? "Blue Collar Records was a label that the band created before they signed with a major record company. We wanted to put the record out ourselves, but quickly realized that we had neither the funds nor the know-how to, nor the man power to put out a record nationally. Signing with Wind-up was the best decision this band ever made, had we not done that, none of you would ever have heard of Creed." --Scott Stapp
